The film, a remake of the 2007 Telugu blockbuster film Aadavari Matalaku Ardhalu Verule, directed by Selvaraghavan, stars Dhanush, Selvaraghavan's brother, replacing Venkatesh and Nayantara, replacing Trisha Krishnan, in lead roles, whilst Karthik Kumar, Raghuvaran, K. The title of the film is derived from a song from the 1958 Sivaji Ganesan-Padmini starrer Uthama Puthiran. It was Raghuvaran's last movie before his death on 19 March 2008.
Yaaradi Nee Mohini was released on 4 April 2008, becoming highly successful at the box office, emerging as one of the highest grossing Tamil films of the year. The film also received seven nominations at the 56th Filmfare Awards South.
Vasu (Dhanush) is from a middle-class family. He makes several bids to obtain employment but all goes in vain due to his poor language skills and inadequate educational qualifications. All his friends settle in life, but he continues to struggle in finding employment. Vasu has two faithful friends in Cheenu (Karthik Kumar), and Ganesh (Karunaas). His father (Raghuvaran), who is a teacher, is always critical of him for being an irresponsible person. This just added to his list of woes.
At this juncture, Vasu catches a glimpse of a woman named Keerthi (Nayanthara), and immediately falls in love with her. He learns that she works for a software solutions firm. Luckily for him, Vasu finally secures employment in the same firm. Keerthi eventually turns out to be a short-tempered young woman. On a business trip, Vasu accompanies her along with two other colleagues (Jeeva and Manobala), to Australia. Here he reveals his feelings of love to her. She immediately turns him down, saying that she comes from an orthodox family, and her marriage has already been arranged with her uncle's son.
Begaluru recently had organised a charity marathon and had requested the pretty and sporty Deepika Padukone for being the celebrity guest of the event. And the result was that the event produced a whopping Rs 1.3 crore as the collection that will be used for 80 different causes.
Both the organisers and the actress were thoroughly surprised and equally glad with the huge outcome. Not only that; it is said that there was 300% rise in the registration for this marathon this year. Deepika was really pleased and said, “There was a huge turnout and I am very glad that I associated myself with an event like this. If me being there and giving an hour of my time makes such a huge difference I can help and support it. I will always be available for such events. I guess because I am from Bengaluru it has also made a difference. The marathon was very well organised and sports will always be a priority for me.”
According to sources, Deepika was only interested to do this charity and agreed to participate in the marathon free of cost.
Looks like Deepika believes that charity is the only asset that never fails to pull in positive energy!
