Anushka Sharma (Hindi: अनुष्का शर्मा pronounced [ənʊʂkaː ˈʃərmaː]; born 1 May 1988)[2] is an Indian actress and former model who appears in Bollywood films. In 2008, she made her screen debut in Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi, directed by Aditya Chopra.

Sharma was born in Bangalore, but her parents are from Uttarakhand. Her father, Col. Ajay Kumar Sharma, is an army officer and her mother Ashima Sharma is a housewife. She has an elder brother named Karnesh,[3] who was a state-level cricketer and is now in the Merchant Navy. She studied in Army School and graduated with specialization in arts from Mount Carmel College, Bangalore.[4] She then moved to Mumbai to further her modeling career, where she currently resides.

Sharma says she originally wished to make it big in the modeling world but had no strong aspirations for films.[4] She began her modeling career at the Lakme Fashion Week as a model for Wendell Rodricks's Les Vamps Show and was picked to be Rodricks's finale model at the Spring Summer '07 Collection. The latest buzz is that Nisha Agarwal, sister of Kajal Agarwal, had also been selected as heroine in this film. This fact came to light with the latest posting of Ram on his Twitter. Ram had acted in six films so far and Kandireega would be his seventh movie.

Revealing some interesting facts in his film career, Ram says, ‘Just realised… I’ve worked with two heroines in all my six films and now 3 heroines in KANDIREEGA so that makes it 15… 7 FILMS and 15 HEROINES… I'm sure no one can beat that..crazy! lol."

This tweet indicates that Kandireega has three heroines. If the gossip from Film Nagar proved true, Nisha is believed to be the third heroine.
